Our Recycling Unit and Process
Our recycling unit has 3 simple connections: glycol inlet, glycol outlet, and a fuel source. The used glycol is pumped into our system where it is heated while simultaneously applying a vacuum.
There, several things happen:
- Vacuum distillation increases the relative volatility of key components, the higher the relative volatility the more separable the components become with fewer theoretical stages.
- The product is prevented from degradation or polymer formation because of reduced pressure leading to lower bottom temperatures and reduced mean residence time.
- Increases capacity, yield, and purity. Once condensed, the glycol is pumped back into the operating system.
Our recycling unit removes chlorides, hydrocarbons, solids and well-treating chemicals from the glycol and condenses the salts and degraded tars into our system. This reduces the amount of waste disposal by 97 percent and restores the contaminated glycol back to 97-99% purity which allows for improved hygroscopic properties and overall dehydration operations.
